Cheapest lesson prices vs quality of tuition
Because of the way the economy has been going in the last few or so people quite rightly have been tightening their belts and looking to the best possible value in order to have more cash available at the end of the month.
From switching supermarkets, Wearing less expensive clothes, to having less nights out every month, people all around are generally feeling the strain financially.
What we really must question though is cheaper always REALLY cheaper? will paying £15 per driving lesson be cheaper than £20 per lesson in the long run, or £20 per lesson better than £25 per lesson?
The simple answer when paying for a service such as a builder, plasterer, or even a driving instructor is 'no'.
A poor quality builder may be able to offer you a service for £1500 whereas the experienced quality builder wouldn't go lower than £2000. The poor builders work may look good at first but when the cracks begin to appear the real money starts coming out of your pocket in upkeep costs, repairs, not to mention the stress. Whereas the high quality builders work would stand the test of time.
A dodgy plumber may be able to fix a problem for £100 but the quality plumber might charge £150, once again the job may appear to be done at first but the leak may soon come back, if only we had used the experienced plumber.
The skills our driving instructors will teach you will last a life time and poor training can affect things like your insurance premium when you have an accident because you were not trained well enough to reverse and bump your new car, or worse be fatal because you cannot approach a roundabout safely and confidently. We are as cheap as possible without losing our high quality instructors and resorting to providing a poorer service, which would cost you so much more in the long run.
Driving instruction is a very competetive market and we are well aware that lesson prices vary from £25-£15 per hour and I have even seen people offering lessons cheaper. But which one should you choose and why?
The average independant ADI driving instructor in Manchester charges £20-23 in Manchester and then you have The AA, BSM, Red who charge a little more, between £23-£25 per hour. So when somebody is offering you lessons at £13-15 or even less you should ask that instructor why it is so cheap, the best driving instrucors with a busy diary wont be the ones charging the cheapest prices.
Natural instinct may say "this £15 lesson is great" but lets be honest, it costs on average of over £3 per hour to keep a car turned on these days in fuel costs, then you have the car repayments, repair costs, consumables, instructors car insurance, road tax and thats before even thinking of the self employed driving instructors earnings, sickness and pension schemes. Also driving instructors regurlaly have to travel 30mins between lessons leaving upto 50% of their time dead. so in 1.5 hours including the 1 hour lesson the instructor has earned £15 but lost upto £4.50 in fuel and more in other costs leaving him / her with £9.00 maximum for 1.5 hours work! Then there is the high 'franchise fees' for providing pupils that some driving schools charge, paying the school upto and above £150 per week before you even start making money!
This is after shelling out up to and above £8000 in training costs just to get on the road as an instructor!
We just have to imagine what earning lower than £6 per hour, after spending so much on training would feel like, we probaly wouldnt carry on in the job for long; and thats the problem. An unhappy driving instructor earning no money is more likely to become a poor driving instructor, regardless of how well they were trained at the start, working long hours for less than minimum wage in some cases, upto 50-60hrs per week, spending 12+ hours a day away from home, tired, frustrated and demotivated, eventually giving up and working elsewhere.
How we keep our instructors and you happy- Learn More Driving School
We try to keep our instructors and therefore, you happy in many ways. Providing you with a happy, professional instructor will mean you may be ready for your driving test a lot sooner than going to the guy charging less at first but who may never get you to the standard of passing the driving test. Maybe because he / she leaves the industry for an employed job. Maybe because he / she ditches you when they find a learner prepared to pay more, maybe because they never qualify as an ADI instructor and leave you stranded half way through the learning process!
*They only work locally, between 0-20 minutes of home in most cases
*They therefore can work less hours in a day to earn the same money, working less than 40 hours makes them more productive
*Our well trained driving instructors will get you ready quicker on average than a poorly trained / motivated instructor that might charge cheaper at first, as they structure the lessons well and prepare you professionally, making you ready for test maybe 5, 10 or more hours quicker than other driving instructors, possibly saving you hundreds of pounds by the time you come to your driving test!
*We keep the 'franchise fee' to our instructors low, half some of our competitors rates! once again helping us keep lesson prices down without effecting quality.
*We charge as little as possible, such as our great 5 lessons for £70 for beginners and 10 for £170 without compromise on quality of tuition and demotivating our instructors potential to make a living out of their professional qualification. The only reason we can go so low for the first few hours is our instructors are fully confident of retaining you throughout the training because of their quality tuition. They dont expect to lose you after the first few hours and they will prove to you how good they are.
*We strive to provide the best possible driving lessons for all learners, they are earning enough to not worry about fuel expenses which like some Driving schools who may "keep the pupil on the side of the road for hours, talking about anything but not moving off wasting fuel!" - Unbelievable but true!
*Our instructors will by test standard have you doing Dual carridgeways upto 70MPH , town centre and major junctions regurlaly!
not barely out of the side streets due to wasting fuel costs!
*Our proud team of instructors will give you the full lesson time, so 1 lesson is 1 full hour, we will not cut short to 50 mins to fit more in the day in and we do not tolerate this practice! we will also NOT piggy back pupils, making you drive and pick the next pupil up before your lesson finishes!
